The Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) consists of the Criminal Investigations Division. and the Special Investigations Division and is commanded by Captain Anthony Ferrara.

The Investigations Division includes Criminal Investigations, the Forensic Crime Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

About Captain Ferrara:

 

Captain Anthony M. Ferrara was hired by the Gainesville Police Department in April, 1995.  He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University Of Florida’s College of Journalism.  In January 2013, he attended the 252nd Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, where he networked with over 260 fellow police professionals from all over the globe.  Captain Ferrara has had the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles at the Department including: Bicycle Unit Coordinator, Traffic Homicide Investigator, DUI Specialist, Field Training Officer, Traffic Safety Team as a member of the Motor Unit, the Operational Skills (Training) Unit, District 1 Commander, District 2 executive officer, and as executive officer of the Professional Standards and Support Services Bureau.  Captain Ferrara’s proudest moment at the Gainesville Police Department came in 1997 wherein his brother, Nicholas Ferrara (now a sergeant in the Investigations Bureau) was sworn in, joining Captain Ferrara and former Officer Justin Ferrara (now a Captain with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office) to represent  the first and only time in GPD’s history that three siblings served the citizens of Gainesville in unison.
