The Gainesville Police Department's Honor Guard consists of 16 members of the department. In 2007, the Honor Guard conducted the funeral and burial service for Lt. Corey Dahlem, which was attended by over 2,500 people (1,800 of which were fellow law enforcement officers). Annually, the GPD Color Guard leads the University of Florida Homecoming Parade, and assists with funeral services for officers who have been killed in the line of duty across the state of Florida. Members also provide casket and funeral details for retired police officers and firefighters.
Members of the team attended both the State and National Law Enforcement ceremonies in which they were given the honor of standing guard at the National Wreath. Members coordinated the Local Memorial Service held at the Kanapaha Memorial Park. Members traveled to the National Memorial in Washington D.C. in 2008, when Lt. Corey Dahlem’s name was placed on the Memorial Wall.
