Shortly after his arrival, Chief Botsford instituted District Policing in Gainesville .  The City was divided into 2 areas to form 2 districts, each having their own commander and executive officer.  After a major annexation of property into the City in September of 2002, Chief Botsford again re-organized the City into 3 districts, each having dedicated personnel and commanders.  The commanders for these areas are responsible for responding to issues involving virtually everything occurring in their assigned area.
