CADET PROGRAM This dynamic program has two distinct components; education and training. This program will provide employment and college tuition for the qualified applicant. A full scholarship at Santa Fe Community College and an opportunity to be trained in practical law enforcement knowledge and skills. An applicant who successfully completes the process will become a CADET with the Gainesville Police Department and start as a student at SFCC. Uniforms and equipment will be issued along with the manual of rules and regulations pertaining to the CADET program and the police department.
ARE YOU READY TO MAKE A CHOICE IN YOUR FUTURE ?
Education is the goal. Maintaining a 2.5 GPA with a full class load can be long and hard. When a CADET is not in class or studying, the other hours are spent with the Coordinator or other divisions of the police department. The training is geared toward developing the CADET’s skills in many areas of law enforcement. The CADET will be encouraged to continue with the police department upon graduation. Even though the CADET’s course of study is not law enforcement, consideration for the police academy and a future with the Gainesville Police Department is available for those qualified.
WANT A CHALLENGING AND REWARDING CAREER ?
A CADET will be compensated for up to but not exceed 40 hours This includes class and working at GPD. The CADET is employed in a temporary part-time status by the police department. This is not a program for everyone and everyone cannot be in this program. Expectations and standards are high.
