Mission

The Community Resource Center (CRC) is a cooperative effort between The Gainesville Police Department and The Oaks Mall. The purpose of the Center is to provide the community with a "user friendly" resource for obtaining information pertaining to Public Safety and Crime Prevention. The Community Resource Center is conveniently located at The Oaks Mall, to ensure accessibility to as many members of the Community as possible.

Crime Prevention Material

Staffing

The Community Resource Center is staffed by Gainesville Police Department personnel who are specially trained to deliver Crime Prevention and Public Safety programs. Crime Prevention material at the CRC includes topics such as Home Security, Business Loss Prevention, Personal Safety, and Vehicle Security. Additional public safety information is available regarding Driver’s Safety, Fire Prevention, and Child Safety.

Services

The Community Resource Center (CRC) will provide the following public safety services:

I.D.-A-KID- A child’s photograph, measurements and fingerprints are recorded and incorporated into an identification card, which is maintained by the parent or given to the child.

Combat Auto Theft (C.A.T)- Community members register their vehicle with the Police Department and sign an agreement that allows local law enforcement officers to stop the vehicle between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. to verify the identity of the driver. Participants receive a bright yellow decal which is placed on their rear window, indicating program participation.

bulletOperation Identification- This program requires the marking and inventory of personal property to deter theft and aid in the recovery of stolen property. Upon request, community members may receive a personal engraver and Operation Identification Warning decals.
