Capt. Lynne Benck

Captain Lynne Benck is in charge of the Investigations Bureau which is made up of the following: Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Forensic Crime Unit (FCU), Special Investigations Division (SID) and the Crime Victim Advocate Program.  

This highly integrated team is responsible for the investigation of crimes such as murder, robbery, sexual battery, child abuse, burglary, forgery, larceny, and arson.  In addition they are responsible for the processing, collecting, and storing of all forensic evidence.

To augment our agency's efforts, this Bureau provides assistance and support to those citizens victimized by crime.  Our Crime Victim Advocacy Program assists in obtaining compensation to victims of crime as well as professional counseling and referral services, and accompanies them as their case progresses through the entire judicial process.  

Each Bureau component plays an intricate role in supporting the Department's commitment to service excellence while improving the quality of life for all citizens of Gainesville.
