Obtaining federal and state funding through grants is a very efficient way to subsidize police and community projects. A member of the planning unit is responsible for conducting research to identify innovative programs that will assist the police department in preventing crime, procuring technologically current equipment and establishing partnerships with members of the community. A primary focus of grant acquisition is on building partnerships with various segments of the private and professional sectors in our community to solve our crime problems. This partnership has already resulted in several successful police/community programs designed to educate all parties about the needs and goals of the community. These programs include the Weed and Seed Grant, the COPS Grants (including COPS Ahead, COPS More, Universal Hiring, Block Grant Program, Domestic Violence Grant), and the HUD 8 Grants. Contact: Cpl.
