Officer Friendly's duties include presenting safety and crime prevention information to elementary school students. "Officer Friendly" - John Gates visits all public elementary schools within the city limits, as well as some private schools and day care centers (by invitation). Some examples of these presentations are "Stranger Danger," "How to Call 911," "Bullying - How to Keep Yourself Safe," and "Laws - What You Need to Know." Officer Gates also conducts station tours and makes presentations to various youth-related community groups and organizations. During the summer when school is not in session, the officer works with several other crime prevention programs involving children who live in Gainesville. Contact Information:
